WORKING KITCHEN MANAGER — The Fountainhead Pub (Davie Village, Vancouver)
The Fountainhead Pub is a queer-anchored neighbourhood pub at 1025 Davie St, anchoring Davie Village for 26 years. We have a strong food program, 16-tap craft beer selection, and one of the largest patios on Davie. We're looking for a Working Kitchen Manager to lead our next chapter.
THE ROLE
Hands-on leadership: ~30-35 hrs/week on the line + 10-15 hrs/week managing BOH operations, menu development, ordering, and training. You'll lead a team of 4-6 line cooks and have real authority to develop the menu.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily kitchen ops: prep, line execution, quality consistency (lunch, dinner, late-night, weekend brunch)
- Menu development and quarterly reviews; new item design and seasonal features
- Inventory, ordering, waste reduction, COGS management
- BOH staff training and scheduling
- FoodSafe/allergen/health & safety compliance
- FOH collaboration on food programming and combo execution
YOU HAVE
- 5+ years cooking experience, 2+ years as sous chef or kitchen lead
- Demonstrated menu development experience
- Comfort on a busy dinner line (6-9 PM)
- FoodSafe Level 1 (Level 2 preferred)
- Strong communication and team leadership skills
- Bonus: pub/casual dining background; experience in queer-anchored workplaces
COMPENSATION
- $58,000/year base salary
- Tip pool participation + performance bonus
- Extended medical and dental (after 3-month probation)
