Tommy’s Whole Grain is a highly-regarded bakery in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside focused on highlighting whole grain baking and local ingredients. We partner with small businesses to show the amazing selection of grains, fruits and vegetables within our region, providing more avenues for farmers to share their work with the larger community.
The Baker position is a full-time position in charge of the mixing station, working directly under the Head Baker. This includes mixing whole wheat sourdoughs, rye, enriched doughs, as well as shaping, operating the ovens, and supporting the front of house. We prioritize professional growth, and aim to make all staff members well-rounded workers.
This role will be responsible for upholding our standards. Key responsibilities will include:
Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism on a daily basis, including punctuality, communication and decorum
Exude both confidence and humility, and a willingness to follow direction and fine details
Work closely with colleagues as a team
We hire people with various experience if they are the right fit, but ideal candidates will possess:
2 years of experience baking in a high-quality establishment
Passion for baking with a desire to seek out feedback for areas of improvement
Interest in developing knowledge about whole grains and milling
Long-term desire to work in the baking industry
Compensation Details:
Hourly and based on experience. Minimum hourly rate for this position is $19
Monthly tips split equally amongst the team
